Harbour Group brings APG into its flow component group

Harbour Group has acquired American Packing & Gasket Holdings, LLC, bringing APG into SHF, Inc., a Harbour Group company, as part of a broader push to deepen its position in flow components and industrial supply. APG will operate alongside Stainless Hose Fittings, Texcel, and OmegaOne, extending Harbour’s coverage across sealing, hose, fittings, and coupling categories that are central to many distributor line cards. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The deal matters because APG is not simply another product brand. It is a master distributor focused on sealing and fluid conveyance products, including O-rings, gaskets, and couplings, with operations in Houston and Knoxville, Tennessee. According to Harbour Group, APG carries more than 40,000 active SKUs and supports that inventory with value-added services such as O-ring bagging, kitting, and custom gasket fabrication. In distribution terms, that mix combines breadth, availability, and light manufacturing support in categories where uptime, fill rates, and speed often determine who wins recurring business.

For distributors, this is the kind of acquisition that can reshape sourcing options without changing end-market demand. Buyers still need the same maintenance, repair, OEM, and project-critical components, but they may now gain access to a broader package of products through a more unified supply platform.

Why the combination stands out for distributors

Harbour Group framed the acquisition around product and customer fit. “APG’s product set and customer base are very complementary to that of our flow component businesses, and we are excited about the growth opportunity this combination creates,” Harbour Group Chairman and CEO Jeff Fox said in a statement.

That complementarity is what distributors should focus on. Stainless fittings, hose, couplings, gaskets, and sealing products are frequently specified together, sold together, or sourced together for industrial applications. When one ownership group can align inventory and commercial strategy across those categories, distributors may benefit from more coordinated quoting, broader technical support, and fewer supply gaps between related product families.

Fox also pointed to the strategic value of APG’s coupling portfolio, especially the EVER-TITE brand, which he said pairs well with Texcel’s hose offering. That is notable in wholesale distribution because line expansion is often most valuable when adjacent categories reinforce each other. A distributor serving industrial, chemical, marine, or oil and gas accounts typically gains more from an integrated fluid conveyance offering than from a standalone SKU increase.

What APG adds to Harbour’s supply chain footprint

APG brings several operational strengths that fit distributor priorities:

  • Large active inventory in sealing and fluid conveyance categories

  • Supplier network depth that can support product availability

  • Value-added services that help simplify downstream fulfillment

  • Locations in Texas and Tennessee that support regional reach

Those factors matter in a market where distributors are balancing service expectations with inventory discipline. A master distributor with broad stock and conversion capabilities can reduce complexity for regional and independent distributors that do not want to hold every size, material, or configuration themselves. It can also support faster response on custom or semi-custom needs that would otherwise slow down customer service and order completion.

Harbour said SHF, Texcel, and OmegaOne already operate as a unified business platform supplying stainless-steel adapters, fluid power fittings, braid bands, instrumentation fittings, and valves. Adding APG widens that platform into more complete sealing and conveyance coverage. That creates potential leverage in cross-selling, vendor consolidation, and category management, all of which are increasingly important as distributors try to protect margin while offering deeper service.

What the deal signals in distribution M&A

This acquisition reflects a familiar trend in industrial distribution and adjacent manufacturing: building specialized platforms around highly specified, repeat-purchase product categories. Rather than chasing unrelated scale, acquirers are often targeting businesses that sharpen category authority and make the supply chain more useful to distributors.

Jake Walker, CEO of SHF, Texcel, and OmegaOne, emphasized that logic in the company’s release, saying APG expands “the breadth of products, technical expertise, and customer support we can deliver to our customers.” For distributor customers, that combination is often more meaningful than headline deal volume. Breadth alone does not create value unless it is matched by application knowledge, service responsiveness, and dependable supply.

Harbour Group, a privately owned company based in St. Louis, said it has acquired 237 companies across 51 industries since its founding in 1976. That history suggests APG is joining a buyer with an established platform-building playbook. For distributors, the practical takeaway is straightforward: this deal strengthens a supplier group in product segments where bundled sourcing, technical support, and inventory depth can influence purchasing decisions. As more M&A targets these specialized channels, distributors should expect continued consolidation around companies that make complex industrial sourcing easier, not just larger.
